Aurora Tour Guide (Seasonal – Korean Speaking) Location: Yellowknife, NT Employment Type: Seasonal Employment Dates: August 15 – April 15 Hours: 15–40 hours/week (varies based on bookings) Wage range: $17-$20/hour About Raven Tours: Raven Tours is a locally owned and operated tour company offering immersive Northern experiences to travelers from around the world. We specialize in aurora viewing, cultural exploration, and warm Northern hospitality. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, bilingual Aurora Tour Guide to join our team for the upcoming season. Key Responsibilities: ● Lead aurora viewing tours, actively engaging guests with storytelling, cultural insights, and safety protocols ● Operate city tours, introducing guests to local history, landmarks, and shops with energy and accuracy ● Perform airport pickups and drop-offs, including welcoming guests and assisting with flight delays or schedule changes ● Take and assist with aurora photography (training and camera provided), ensuring guests receive memorable photos ● Communicate clearly and energetically in both Korean and English ● Ensure guest safety, comfort, and satisfaction at all times ● Assist with snack setup, gear distribution, and light vehicle tidying as needed ● Remain flexible and positive while adapting to the dynamic nature of tourism ● Other related duties as assigned to ensure smooth delivery of tour operations and guest satisfaction Requirements: ● Fluent in Korean and English (spoken; written is an asset) ● Strong interpersonal skills, with a passion for storytelling and guest engagement ● Energetic, outgoing, and resilient, comfortable working outdoors in subarctic conditions ● Strong situational awareness and a safety-first mindset ● Willingness to learn aurora photography techniques (training provided) ● Availability for evening and night shifts (typically 21:30–02:00) ● Reliable transportation to/from downtown Yellowknife or designated pickup point Assets (Not Required): ● Valid Class 5 or Class 4 Driver’s License ● Experience in hospitality, tourism, photography, or customer service ● Familiarity with Yellowknife or Northern Canadian culture Working Conditions: ● This role requires frequent exposure to cold temperatures, often below –30°C ● Work is primarily outdoors, at night, with physical activity including lifting, walking on uneven terrain, and assisting guests ● Standing for extended periods and maintaining a positive attitude in challenging weather conditions is expected Perks & Benefits: ● Full set of winter gear provided for use throughout the season (jacket, snow pants, boots, mitts, hat) ● Aurora photography camera provided for tour use ● Training in aurora storytelling, safety protocols, and guest engagement ● Be part of a passionate, tight-knit team delivering once-in-a-lifetime experiences
